About DSD
Differences in sex development (DSD) are variations in the development of sexual organs and other sex-related structures in relation to sex chromosomes, hormones, and other developmental factors. (Also see alternate terms in DSD.)
DSD conditions may be classified into three major groups:
- 46,XY DSD
- 46,XX DSD
- Sex chromosome DSD
Some common and rare DSD conditions are listed below:
- Amenorrhea past age 16
- Androgen insensitivity syndrome
- Clitoromegaly
- Congenital adrenal hyperplasia
- Denys-Drash syndrome
- Epispadias
- Frasier syndrome
- Failure of pubertal development
- Gonadal dysgenesis
- Hypospadias
- Microphallus
- MRKH (Mayer-Rokitansky-Küster-Hauser) syndrome
- Turner syndrome
- Undescended testes
